ART DECO GUIDED WALKS Let our experienced Walk Guides show you Napier’s Deco Delights. Your guided walk through the world-famous Art Deco City Centre includes an introductory slide presentation, guided walk, information booklet plus optional video screening and refreshments. Guided walks start at the Art Deco Shop, 163 Tennyson St. Fri 18, Sat 19 and Sun 20 July at 2 pm. Allow 2½ hours for the full programme. Tickets $20. Bookings essential.
BEROCCA BRUNCH Sponsored by McEntee Hire Banish the blues and clear the cobwebs at this bountiful brunch with the million dollar view. BERTIE’S BRUNCH Sponsored by HBS Building Society Rub the sleep from your eyes and join Bertie for a nutritious brunch in the rich surroundings of the Hawke’s Bay Club. CLASSIC CINEMA (Associated Event) THE WOMEN (USA, 1939) George Cukor directed an all-star (and all female) cast including Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer, Rosalind Russell, Joan Fontaine and Paulette Goddard in the hilarious adaptation of the play by Clare Booth Luce about divorce, cattiness and competition in the circle of “friends”. Art Deco never looked better in movies that in this one. The Art Director was Cedric Gibbons (he also did GRAND HOTEL) and the costume design by Adrian. The beauty salon at the beginning of the movie and the night club at the end are creamy and curvaceous like never before or since. Sun 20 July at 2.30 pm. CRAWLIN’ THE QUAY Three great waterside venues on West Quay Ahuriri plus three great jazz bands. This crawl will give you a great Sunday lunch in a wonderful quayside setting. Each course of your meal will be in a different venue and each venue will feature a different band. What a convivial way to enjoy great music! Napier Cosmopolitan Club – Hastings St. The Dixie Dudes entertain with their inimitable fun and frolicky style of dixie music. The line up features trumpet, sousaphone, banjo and clarinet and is led by Kevin Clark.
Take 5 Jazz Restaurant – Marine Parade. The John Redmond Quartet digs into the Great American Songbook and presents the great songs from one of the great jazz periods.
The Cri Coffee House & Brasserie - Market St. The Rodger Fox Experience – Take one of New Zealand’s top jazz exponents and surround him with high quality musicians and you have an afternoon of jazz that should not be missed.

Old Red + Gallery – Tennyson St. (Old Red Cross Rooms almost opposite the Municipal Theatre). Kevin Watson and Michelle entertain in the art gallery setting of one of Napier’s iconic buildings. Enjoy the Deco artworks and the soft jazz sounds. Wine and food available.

“MODA” ART EXHIBITION (Free Event) Featuring Ingrid Boot and Nick Fedaeff Ingrid Boot English Artist, Ingrid Boot has lived in New Zealand now since 2000 and she paints in a realistic and Illustrative style. She sees beauty in many subjects from the desolate to the glamourous. Nick Fedaeff Nick’s paintings are dynamic and vibrant. They show his diverse artistic potential.
