DECO SPONTANE AND DECO CONGA LINE (NEW)

During the 1930s people were ravaged by the great depression so dancing became an outlet for expression. The dance styles became wild and carefree and uplifting.

Deco Spontane
Now is your chance to express yourself and perform Charleston with hundreds of other Art Deco enthusiasts by joining in the Deco Spontane. Learn the dance routine that will be featured here on our website shortly or join in the lesson taught on the night, then join local celebrities and the Born to Move dancers for an exciting 5 minute crescendo.

What is the Deco Conga Line event?
In the very first year of the Art Deco Weekend a massive conga line was formed which went through the streets of Napier. In 2017 we're bringing it back! After the Deco Spontane, the Art Deco Dancers will lead a conga line, starting at the Sound Shell and making its way around the Lower Lawn and back up to the shell. Pick up strangers, make new friends and help us bringing back a piece of Art Deco history.
