Nathan Haines in Concert

Just before Christmas Jazz legend Nathan Haines was diagnosed with cancer of the throat. Nathan has had two successful surgeries and is on the road to recovery. Unfortunately this means that Nathan, who was scheduled to play a special one off ‘Nathan Haines in Concert’ as part of the 30th celebrations for the Tremains Art Deco Festival, has had to cancel this concert along with all his future engagements.

Art Deco Trust with the support of Joel Haines, Nathans brother and guest artists are transforming this concert into the ‘Nathan Haines Benefit Concert’, with profits going to help support Nathan’s recovery.Joel has been a regular part of Nathan’s live band for almost two decades and has written and performed on many of Nathan’s award winning albums. Joel is one of New Zealand’s most respected composers & musicians. Joel has composed thousands of Soundtracks for Multi award winning TV Series & Films including ‘The Brokenwood Mysteries’, ‘Westside’, 'Outrageous Fortune', & Academy Awards contender, 'This Way of Life'. He has lent his skills to many chart topping artists such as Annie Crummer, Che Fu, The Straw People, Fiona McDonald, Hinewehi Mohi, Whirimako Black, Maisey Rika, The Human Instinct, & Cairo Knife Fight, to name a few.

For this special concert his band will play a repertoire from Joel’s vast catalogue including his music From Nathan’s albums. They will be joined by award winning singer and musician Tama Waipara, and the immense vocal talent of Esther Stephens.

Nathan Haines says “I have been humbled by the support I’ve received from the entire music community and all the fans during this challenging time for me and my family. I’m also very grateful to the Art Deco Trust for their generous support. Joel, his band, Tama and Esther are world class musicians and wish I could be there to experience what I know will be an amazing concert.”

All tickets that have been issued ‘Nathan Haines in Concert’ will be valid for the ‘Nathan Haines Benefit Concert’.
